PEORIA, Ill. — The Peoria City/County Health Department Friday reported 98 new cases of COVID-19 in Peoria County, which is more than the number reported throughout the tri-county area as a whole Thursday.
Tazewell County added 41 new cases and Woodford County added 10 new COVID-19 cases for a total Friday of 149 in the tri-county area.
No new deaths were reported by the health department Friday, keeping the area total at 592 since the pandemic began.
Hospitalizations in area hospitals due to the virus remained steady, but there was a two patient increase in the ICU.
On a regional level, Region 2 of Illinois’ positivity rate is now back over 3% at 3.1%.
ICU bed availability in the region remained steady at 28% but is overall down from 31% a week ago.
After two straight previous days of hospitalization increases in the region, Region 2 held steady in the last 24 hours and experienced no change in the number of hospitalizations.
