WASHINGTON, Ill. — A man was killed Wednesday evening in Washington when he was hit by two vehicles while crossing the street, according to police.
Tazewell County Coroner Charles Hanley says the crash happened about 6:25 p.m. at Washington Road and School Street, and claimed the life of Jerry Armstrong, 55, of Washington.
Police Chief Mike McCoy said two vehicles hit the man as he walked off the curb and into traffic. As a result, the chief said no tickets have been issued so far.
McCoy said the driver of one of first car stopped to help, and the driver of the second vehicle may not have known that someone was hit.
Hanley says an autopsy will be performed on Friday.
