PEKIN, Ill. – A now-former U.S. Representative who received a lot of criticism his last few years in office for taking former President Donald Trump to task is helping a Tazewell County-based entity.
The Pekin-based Dirksen Congressional Center says former Illinois Congressman Adam Kinzinger has made a $25,000 donation to the center, through the Friends of Adam Kinzinger fund.
Executive Director Tiffany White says the donation will help strengthen the center’s endowment, allowing it to continue to expand its work.
“As Americans, we all benefit when we have a better understanding of civics,” White said, in a news release. “Collections like Congressman Kinzinger’s, which is now being processed, enable us to offer an unparalleled look at the Congress of today and, alongside our historical collections, put the operations of Congress over nearly a century into context.”
Kinzinger recently designated the center as the repository for his public papers and artifacts.
He’s currently head of the “Country First” Political Action Committee, and is a CNN political commentator. The center says Kinzinger is also working on a memoir that will be published later this year.
