PEKIN, Ill. – A proposed multi-sport complex on Route 98 in Pekin will not happen.
The Pekin City Council voted to cancel the project at Monday night’s meeting.
The proposed 70-acre complex would have featured a hockey rink, basketball courts, and a gym.
Acting City Manager John Dossey says a lack of communication between the construction company building the project, Baldovin Construction, and the city was a factor in the project’s cancellation.
Developer Casey Baldovini, at the time of the project’s proposal, told council members he would need a strong buy-in from the city that included the land and other incentives.
