PEORIA, Ill. – Delayed again.
Fifteen months after being arrested, and not long after a judge agreed for the two people charged to be tried separately, the first of two trials regarding the death of Navin Jones, 8, is being delayed.
Jury selection had been set to begin Monday in the case of Brandon Walker, 41; but, a judge granted a last-minute continuance to September 18th.
Prior to that, a hearing on several motions filed in the case is scheduled for a month from now.
Walker and Stephanie Jones, 36, both face multiple murder charges after young Navin died after allegedly being beaten, malnourished, and locked in his room March 29, 2022.
For the moment, Stephanie Jones’ trial would start September 25th – a week after Walker’s trial begins.
