ROCKFORD, Ill. – A former Peoria resident who is a convicted and registered sex offender is accused of murdering a child.
25 News reports Antonio Monroe, 44, is being charged in Winnebago County with murder, attempted murder, kidnapping, and aggravated battery via strangulation.
Monroe allegedly killed Destiny Huggins, 10, in Rockford – her body found in a yard after a six-year-old told her mother a man took the girl
He’s now also reportedly a person of interest in the death of a woman July fifth in Schaumburg.
Monroe moved to that area after his release from prison when he completed a sentence on a 2010 conviction of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Assault of a 19-year-old.
An arraignment hearing in the murder case is scheduled for August 15.
