PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria man has been indicted by a county grand jury in connection with a shooting on the Fourth of July.
The grand jury Tuesday charged Carl Clifton, 45, with counts of Aggravated Battery, Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, and Possession of a Weapon by a Felon.
Clifton allegedly fired a gun on Romeo B. Garrett Avenue around 11 p.m. July 4, in an area where 100 people are believed to have gathered .
One woman, police say, suffered a graze wound, as Clifton allegedly ran through the area shooting at another man.
Clifton is in the Peoria County Jail on $60,000 bond, and will be arraigned Thursday, July 27.
