MARQUETTE HEIGHTS, Ill. – A Marquette Heights teenager died after an accidental shooting Saturday evening.
The Peoria County Coroner says Marquette Heights Police and EMS responded at around 9:24 P.M. to the area of Lincoln St. and Rogers St.
EMS started lifesaving procedures on 15-year-old Caden J. Thomas, then transported him to OSF St. Francis Medical Center in grave condition.
Thomas passed away at the hospital a couple hours later at around 11:38 P.M.
An autopsy performed on Thomas revealed that he suffered an unintentional gunshot wound to the head.
Illinois State Police are investigating the shooting as an unfortunate accident.
