SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – A Carbon dioxide storage pipeline that would pass through the tri-county area would not come at all, if some experts at the Illinois Commerce Commission had their way.
In a document filed Wednesday with the Commission, staff recommends denial of what would be called a “certificate of authority” for Wolf Carbon Solutions.
One employee says for one, there is no actual agreement in place to build the pipeline, at least between Wolf and Archer Daniels Midland, that would start actual construction.
For another, the endpoint of the pipeline isn’t clearly known, and they say it goes against the purpose of a state law on the matter, among other things.
Plans for another pipeline that would have run close to, but not in, the Tri-County area have already been withdrawn.
There’s been strong opposition, including by a group that is expected to present to the Tazewell County Board Wednesday night.
