PEKIN, Ill. – A candidate for one of the seats in the Illinois House representing part of Central Illinois is dropping out.
Pekin resident and self-described retail worker Zoey Carter says in a letter she’s withdrawing, but also “See you in 2025.”
That leaves only incumbent Republican Travis Weaver running for the seat representing the 93rd District – a seat he won after defeating former Pekin Mayor Mark Luft in last year’s primary.
Carter – who’s openly transgender – says in her letter she will continue to help the community any way she can.
