PEORIA, Ill. – Despite what you may have heard, the construction of the Bob Michel Bridge – expanding the bike and pedestrian paths – was only a month behind schedule.
But for area businesses, the nine month project might have been about eight months and 29 days too long.
Businesses like Kelleher’s in Peoria.
“Our good friends from Tazewell, McClean, Metamora area, Germantown Hills area, we have some good customers that it was just a little too difficult to maneuver around sometimes,” Pat Sullivan, co-owner, told 25 News.
Sullivan says he’s ready to welcome all those customers with open arms once again.
There are still detour signs up around the area directing you around the Bob Michel, but the bridge opened Saturday morning, and traffic has been moving on it ever since.
The signage could be removed any time now.
