PEORIA, Ill. – Firefighters were called to Providence Pointe Apartments on Green Street in Peoria Monday night, finding smoke on the first floor and the sprinklers going off.
The call came in around 10:15 p.m. Fire Battalion Chief Tom Sander said unattended cooking caused the blaze, damaging a single apartment’s kitchen appliances and cabinets. Smoke and water damage was found throughout the unit.
Two residents were displaced by the fire. Damage is estimated at $25,000.
Residents of the building’s other apartments were allowed back in their homes.
No injuries were reported.
