PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria’s St. Jude Runners are making the trek back home.
One of the 185 runners this year is Midwest Communications’ Lee Hall…who is running a 37th time from Memphis to Peoria.
“I love every moment of it. I’ve met so many patients over the years…some are on this run, and some aren’t with us anymore…but they all motivate me because they’re such strong kids,” Hall says.
He tells WMBD’s “Greg and Dan Show”, he considered not running this year, but he made a promise a long time ago to some very important kids.
“We made bracelets yesterday at the hospital…and I got one for Freddy, one for Lexi and one for Dusty Pautler, three of the kids that I knew that aren’t with us anymore. It’s kind of a reminder of why I keep doing this,” Hall says.
The “Memphis to Peoria” Run has raised $82 million dollars to date for the children being treated at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
The “Memphis to Peoria” Run is in its 43rd year. It’s the longest running fundraiser for St. Jude in the country.
Peoria’s runners will converge with satellite runs from across the Midwest late Saturday, ahead of the St. Jude Telethon on WEEK-25.
