PEORIA, Ill. – Road construction projects on both sides of the Illinois River begin Monday, including the closure of a busy Peoria street.
Nebraska Avenue will be closed to all traffic between N, Park Road and the I-74 overpass bridge.

The closure, expected to last until mid-December, is necessary as part of the Nebraska Avenue reconstruction project.
The marked detour route for eastbound and westbound traffic on Nebraska Avenue is W. Forrest Hill from Sterling Avenue or University Street.
Due to water main work in East Peoria Tuesday, westbound traffic on East Washington will not be able to cross at Springfield Road with only a right or left hand turn allowed.

Traffic on East Washington can cross Springfield Road or make a right hand turn up the hill. Springfield Road traffic coming down the hill will only be able to turn right onto eastbound Washington.
The lane and turn restrictions are scheduled for two days.
