METAMORA, Ill. – A Woodford County village’s history with the Underground Railroad is being told on the big screen.
25 News reports that the film “The Underground Railroad in Metamora” debuted on Sunday at Metamora High School.
One of the film’s Executive Producers, Laure Adams, says the village’s history with the railroad is mostly untold.
“Those conductors who hid the freedom seekers were in danger. So, a lot that was not documented, other history was not controversial, if you will. So, those stories were well documented, this one was not,” she said.
The Metamora Association for Historic Preservation worked with organizations for about a year to create the film.
