PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria County judge has ordered a man to remain in jail after his arrest last week in a 20-23 shooting death of a teenager.
The Peoria County State’s Attorney’s Office says 22-year-old Jyvonnie Williams was ordered held at a detention hearing on Wednesday.
Williams was arrested Friday for First Degree Murder in the death of 16-year-old Antonio Walker.
Walker was one of six victims in a mass shooting in the area of Marquette and Westmoreland the evening of August 30th, 2023. Walker died from his injuries about a month later.
Prosecutors say surveillance video showed multiple people firing from a previously reported stolen SUV on Marquette. Police reportedly connected the SUV to Williams, with Williams allegedly confessing to a witness that he was the driver and the first to open fire.
