PEORIA, Ill. — A well known musical is making its way to the Peoria Players stage this weekend.
“Little Shop of Horrors” opens Friday night.
The story centers on an awkward young man, Seymour, who raises an exotic plant that he names Audrey II, after the woman he secretly loves.

“It’s got a great heart, it’s got a rock score with great music, and a talented cast. Some of the best talent I’ve been able to work with as a director,” says Peoria Players Director Bryan Blanks.
Blanks tells WMBD’s “The Greg and Dan Show” Audrey II is typically rented from large theater companies in L.A. or even Chicago, but their carnivorous plant was built just for Peoria Players.
“We actually built the plant from scratch. Our very talented artist Jack Clifford, who’s Peoria Players president, built the plant. Once that curtain opens, and they see that plant…they’re going to be really wowed,” Blanks says.
Tickets are still available for performances through September 18th.
