PEORIA, Ill. – The man accused of shooting and killing a woman after allegedly breaking in to her Dunlap apartment has been arraigned.
Walter Artis, Jr., 26, entered a plea in Peoria County Court Thursday afternoon of not guilty to three counts of murder, and Class-X felonies of Home Invasion and Aggravated Battery.
Artis allegedly shot Alexis Boland, 23, of Princeville April 14th before fleeing the scene.
He was caught by police later that morning in Morton. Boland was declared brain dead several days later.
Artis’ trial could begin as soon as July 10th.
He remains jailed on $2.5 million bond.
