WASHINGTON, D.C. (FOX News) — The House Select Subcommittee on the weaponization of the federal government held a hearing Thursday morning with three whistleblowers alleging political bias in the F-B-I and claiming the agency retaliated against them.
FBI Special Agent and whistleblower Garret O’Boyle vowed to stand up to bias in the federal government.
“All I wanted to do was serve my country, stopping bad guys and protecting the innocent. My chagrin, bad guys have begun running parts of the government, making it difficult to continue to serve this nation and protect the innocent…but I for one will never stop trying, and I will not forget my oath,” O’Boyle said.
O’Boyle claims that “threat tags” (created in the wake of the overturning of Roe v. Wade) to focus on the safety of Supreme Court Justices, quickly turned into targeting pro-life pregnancy resource centers.
FBI Staff Operations Specialist and whistleblower Marcus Allen explained during testimony on Thursday how the alleged retaliation has impacted his personal life.
“It’s been more than a year since the F-B-I took my paycheck from me, and we’re getting financially crushed. My family and I have been surviving on early withdrawals from our retirement accounts, while the FBI ignored my requests for approval to obtain outside employment during the review of my security clearance,” Allen said.
The FBI/DOJ received criticism for a slow rollout of arrests involving attacks on these centers, but FBI numbers show they have increased arrests and DOJ has increased prosecutions.
The FBI tells FOX News: “A tag is merely a statistical tool to track information for review and reporting. The creation of a threat tag in no way changes the long-standing requirements for opening an investigation, nor does it represent a shift in how the FBI prioritizes threats.”
In a letter to the committee, the FBI explains the suspension of the security clearances held by the whistleblowers.
The FBI says instances of wrongdoing included spreading links to web sites about the January 6th Capitol Hill riots, participating in unapproved media interviews, downloading documents from FBI computer systems to an unauthorized flash drive, and refusing to execute a court-authorized search and arrest of a criminal suspect.
