TAZEWELL COUNTY Ill. – Congressman, Eric Sorensen, made a stop in Tazewell County Tuesday afternoon.
Sorensen, on the campaign trail, met with farmers in Green Valley — as well as leaders with the Illinois Farm Bureau — to discuss the status of the long-awaited farm bill he’s been working on.
The Illinois 17th District Congress representative recently received the endorsement of the state’s Farm Bureau — and says it’s a direct sign of the work he and his team have been doing.
“It shows that I’m showing my work to them, and that they saw it, they hear it, they feel it. That is what this relationship is about and it is something that I’ll take into the 119th district,” Eric Sorensen said.
Sorensen spoke in regards to the farm bill he’s working on — saying if he doesn’t get it done, he’s not sure anyone else can.
“They need somebody in Washington that understands that — yes our climate is changing, but politics isn’t going to solve this problem, it’s gonna take having at least one meteorologist in Congress, one person that has got a background in understanding atmospheric science, to be able to say, you know what, I can bring democrats and republicans together,” Eric Sorensen said.
The congressman also also received an award in recognition of the endorsement — before taking a tractor ride.
