NORMAL, Ill. – A dominating performance has put the Peoria Notre Dame girls’ basketball team one game away from back-to-back state championships.
The Irish defeated Mount Carmel, 61-35, in the IHSA Class 2A state semifinals at CEFCU Arena in Normal Thursday afternoon.
They will play in the state title game Saturday at 3:00 P.M., against the winner of the Nashville-Chicago Phillips semifinal.
PND used an 11-0 3rd quarter run to help them pull away, after only being up by two points at the half.
Irish junior Lexi Baer led all scorers with 18 points, and was one rebound short of a double-double with nine. Sophomore Emy Wardle scored 15, while senior Julia Mingus added 10.
Maycee Randall led the Lady Aces with 10 points and 12 rebounds.
