PEORIA, Ill. – A six-year-old remains in critical condition after a drowning incident at a Peoria private country club pool.
Peoria Police says the incident occurred just before 7:45 P.M. Monday at Mt. Hawley Country Club, upon reports of two children found unresponsive in the pool.
Police say the pool was closed to the public at the time for an employee appreciation event.
The six-year-old was resuscitated in the ambulance, while a seven-year-old child regained consciousness at the scene.
The Peoria Police Criminal Investigations Division responded.
The incident remains under investigation.

PEORIA, Ill. – Two children were hospitalized Monday night after Peoria firefighters were called to Mt. Hawley Country Club on N. Knoxville Avenue for two potential drownings.
Fire Battalion Chief Ryan Calhoun says crews arrived around 7:50 p.m., finding a five-year-old out of the water, unresponsive and not breathing, with someone doing CPR on the child.
A second child, 7-years-old, who was also out of the pool, was in respiratory distress.
Paramedics were able to stabilize the 7-year-old. She was taken to OSF Saint Francis.
At the same time, paramedics initiated advanced life support for the 5-year-old in cardiac arrest. CPR was continued on the way to OSF.
Peoria Police are conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Neither child’s condition has been released.
