PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria fire crews responded to a structure fire early Friday morning in the area of N. Bestor Street and W. Armstrong Avenue.
Fire Battalion Chief Mike Ralston says firefighters arrived at 4:17 a.m., finding heavy smoke and flames coming from a two-story home.
Inside, crews encountered significant fire and smoke, concentrated at the back of the home.
Ralston says most of the fire was knocked down within 15 minutes. A search of the home confirmed it was vacant.
Crews stayed on the scene for several hours putting out hot spots.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
No injuries were reported at the scene.
Damage is estimated at $100,000.
