PEORIA, Ill. – The newest member of the Peoria County State’s Attorney’s Office was sworn-in on Wednesday.
Feta joins the office as the newest Facility Dog, and the second one, joining Kiwi. A swearing-in ceremony took place at the Peoria County Courthouse.
Feta will help with a calming presence at the Peoria County Children’s Advocacy Center.
“The most vulnerable in our society are young kids, particularly those who are abused,” said Peoria County State’s Attorney Jodi Hoos. “It’s great that we’re able to have Feta out there for them from the very beginning.”
Feta was initially trained with Paws Giving Independence NFP, but it was discovered that she had a mild form of hip dysplasia. The state’s attorney’s office says that, along with a fascination with cats, led Feta to a path of being a facility dog.
Feta received additional training with inmates at the Logan Correctional Center, and at Bradley University.
