PEORIA, Ill. (25 News) – Summer heat can mean higher electric bills for customers as energy use typically increases during the spring and summer months.
Ameren Energy Assistance Manager Kim Bond said customers can take steps to manage their energy use, while assistance programs are available for those who may be struggling to pay their bills.
The amount a customer pays each month can vary depending on several factors, including the size of the home and how much energy is used.
Ameren Illinois also offers energy assistance programs through the state’s Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, known as LIHEAP, as well as through Warm Neighbor Cool Friends, a program that partners with Ameren.
