This year has been like the flavor of boiled Brussel sprouts, or dropping your ice cream cone in the dirt…seeming like at every turn we were getting kicked in the gut. I’ve noticed some people on social media have been giving a new reason each day, why this year hasn’t been so bad in reality. Yes I know and totally agree…it’s been rough with all the bad that has been happening the past 9 months, but there are a few things that have happened that we can shift our focus to…right?
I’m not trying to be Pollyanna here thinking everything has been sunshine, lollipops, and rainbows, but let’s think about it for a couple of minutes. I can only speak for me personally, but I’m willing to bet you might be able to find some good in this year as well. Let’s go through our camera rolls together and take a look at some of the things we did and took pictures of…deal?
- I got a new huge honkin telescope that has allowed me to stare into the universe like the geek I really am
- Went to Memphis and spent time at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and then did radiothon
- Luke Combs in February was absolutely incredible, and taking my ‘concert buddy’ daughter with me added to it
- Went on a double date with some friends (pre-covid 19) and had a blast
- Built a snowman and had a snowball fight
- Took a cooking class
- Had date nights at home
- Went on hikes locally and to Starved Rock
- Learning the guitar and Spanish
- Even staining the deck was fun
- Climbed mountains in Colorado with Susan and spent time with her son and daughter-in-law
- Ran a freaking Marathon
Look, my point is…we all had some awesome days this year, let’s focus more on those than the bad. The moments with the person you love, your kids, projects, trips, hikes, whatever it might be…it was a good year!
