PEORIA, Ill. – The man accused of forcing his girlfriend to stay in their Peoria home while he allegedly beat her over several hours has been indicted by a grand jury.
21-year-old Johnnie Chiaravalle was indicted on Tuesday on three counts of Aggravated Domestic Battery, and one count each of Domestic Battery and Unlawful Restraint.
Court documents allege the incident occurred April 13th at a home in the East Bluff. Chiaravalle allegedly strangled his girlfriend, as well as striking her in the face and cutting her with a knife.
The girlfriend reportedly suffered multiple cuts and lacerations on both legs, visible bruising, and a broken nose.
The girlfriend was able to leave after Chiaravalle fell asleep.
