PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria woman will remain in jail after her arrest in connection to the stabbing death of her girlfriend.
The Peoria County State’s Attorney’s Office says 31-year-old Keonta Williams was ordered detained until trial at a hearing on Monday. She is charged with First Degree Murder in the death of 36-year-old Catherine Walker-Thomas last Tuesday at the Heartland Apartments.
Walker-Thomas was found with a stab wound to the back outside the apartment complex and later died at a hospital.
Prosecutors say multiple witnesses told officers that arguing was heard between the two women outside. They continued to testify that Williams allegedly went inside the apartment, grabbed a knife, and then went back outside.
One juvenile witness allegedly testified they saw Williams stab Walker-Thomas and say “die, die, die.”
Prosecutors say a large kitchen knife with a blood-like substance was found on the ground nearby.
Williams was arrested the next day on June 3rd.
