CHAMPAIGN/JOLIET, Ill. – One central Illinois high school baseball team will play for a state championship, while another fell short.
Tremont defeated Jacksonville Routt, 10-3, in the Class 1A state semifinals this morning at Champaign’s Illinois Field. They will take on Putnam County for the championship Saturday at 1:00 P.M.
Senior Chase Rhodes led the Turks by going 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Senior Andrew Dawson picked up the win with 4 IP and six strikeouts, giving up six hits, three runs, and five walks.
East Peoria fell short by falling two-to-one to Chicago Saint Rita in the Class Three-A state semifinals at Joliet’s Slammers Stadium.
They will play Crystal Lake South for third place Saturday at 10:00 A.M.
