CHICAGO– A $50 million dollar verdict has been reached in the case of an 8-year-old boy who was sexually assaulted at a Peoria camp back in 2022.
The verdict came after jurors found First Ascent Climbing & Fitness Camp negligent in its lack of supervision, protocols and communication in handling the children in their care, which resulted in a 13-year-old assaulting the little boy while attending Kids Climbing Camp.
The camp had been notified about previous incidents involving the teen and had been warned by the teens’ mother that he should not be left alone, information that was not followed up on by the camp staff.
The defendant reportedly issued a statement of apology following the verdict.
