BETHANY, Mo. – A preliminary report into a plane crash that killed a Peoria-area attorney earlier this month has been released.
The National Transportation Safety Board says the Piper PA-24-250 plane operated by 73-year-old William Anderson was not equipped with an installed breathable or portable breathable oxygen system.
The flight left Peoria International Airport on August 4th on a personal flight that was destined for Rapid City Regional Airport in Rapid City, SD.
The report released Monday states Anderson climbed to a cruising altitude of around 13,000 feet, and reached above 18,000 feet at one point without air traffic control clearance.
The plane then entered convective activity, after which it descended and crashed in Bethany, Mo., with impact and a postcrash fire destroying the plane.
