PEORIA, Ill. – A woman listed as homeless was arrested after allegedly trying to kidnap a child in downtown Peoria.
Peoria Police says 29-year-old Erica Mueller reportedly grabbed a five-year-old child who was with their mother and attempted to leave the area with the child. The incident occurred just before 7:00 A.M. Wednesday at SW Jefferson and Liberty.
The child’s mother and a bystander intervened and stopped Mueller from fleeing with the child, with Mueller fleeing on foot after.
Mueller was found by police near SW Jefferson and Green Streets and was arrested after a brief foot chase.
Mueller was charged with Attempted Kidnapping, Aggravated Assault, and Resisting Police
