BARTONVILLE, Ill. (25 News) – A familiar face has stepped into a historic role for the Bartonville Fire Department.
Drew Zachman has been named Bartonville’s first full-time, salaried fire chief, marking a significant milestone for the village’s fire service, according to 25 News.
A packed room at Village Hall gathered to celebrate the appointment, with supporters and fellow first responders on hand to congratulate Zachman on the achievement.
Zachman’s connection to the Bartonville Fire Department spans more than two decades. He joined the department in 2001 and worked his way through the ranks, serving as lieutenant, captain and assistant chief before taking over as chief in January following the retirement of Michael Cheatham.
The village has formalized the chief position as a full-time role with an annual salary of $90,000.
Zachman said his focus is on continuing to move the department forward.
“I’ve been a part of the Bartonville Fire Department for 24 years, and my plan is to just keep working with the members of the fire department and the community leaders and just keep moving the fire department forward for the best of the community,” Zachman said.
Zachman said his immediate priorities include collaborating with village leaders and his crew to expand services throughout the community.
