EAST PEORIA (25News Now) – Video gaming is now prohibited at hotels and motels within East Peoria city limits after a vote earlier this week.
That “extends to any areas of the hotel, motel, or adjoining facilities operating as a restaurant under a Class D liquor license, operating a bar service area under a Class A license, operating a rental hall or conference rooms under a Class CR license, operating a convention center under a Class CC license, or offering catering services at the hotel, motel, or adjoining facilities under these listed licenses,” according to the resolution.
The resolution also states that hotels or motels that try to offer video gaming are “disfavored and detrimental to the City’s business environment,” and “considered to be a public nuisance for the common patrons of these establishments and the citizens of the City of East Peoria.”
In the same unanimous vote, the city council also updated regulations for liquor sold by hotels. Adult beverages can now only be sold in “the lobby area of the hotel or motel and shall only include those areas of the lobby that are open to all members of the public and all patrons of the hotel.”
