I think I’m like a lot of people when you start thinking about doing something…you want to do it and be good at it. Right?
I was reading The Blue Zones book about the 7 places around the world where people live to be older than 100 and thought that sounded like something I wanted to do.
Having a similar diet, along with socialization, red wine, movement, and a few other things were the most common traits. I love bread, and really, who doesn’t?
So if they eat bread, it’s Sourdough…and not the stuff you buy at the store, it’s the stuff you either get from a bakery or make yourself. So I decided to make it myself, creating a bread monster/snob all in one move.
The amount of time spent reading books, searching the internet, and asking the guy at Ardor on the Riverfront how he does it, was a lot. But when you pull what you consider the perfect loaf of bread out of the oven, it’s pure joy. The joy is only topped by cutting a few slices off the loaf and slathering some butter on it while it’s warm.
It’s the simple (and time-consuming) things that make me happy!
